About the Journal

Since 1998, the "School of Manual and Postural Therapy" has been offering courses for professionals in the field of human health. The school, founded by Afonso Salgado, opened the field for the introduction of various globally recognized therapeutic techniques in our country, including Osteopathy, Iso-stretching, muscle chains, Mioaponeurotic Crocheting, Podoposturology, Cyriax, Neuromuscular Balance, Microkinetic Therapy, and Biological Reading.

In March 2002, it became a partner of the Centro Universitário de Maringá - CESUMAR and began offering the 1st International Postgraduate Program in "Manual and Postural Therapy" (sensu lato) in Brazil. Over the years, the school has grown and currently has partnerships with scientific teaching and research institutions in several countries, including OMI – Orthopaedic Medicine International (Belgium), Microkinesitherapie (France), Connaissance & Evolution (France), and EMAC (Portugal).

In 2002, ten years ago, the School of Manual and Postural Therapy, concerned with the dissemination of scientific manual techniques practiced in our country, created the magazine "Revista Terapia Manual," the only scientific journal specialized in this area in Brazil.

The journal "Manual Therapy Journal" has grown and matured scientifically as a result of the effort, participation, and support of the authors, the Editorial Board, and its readers, showing each one the new issue, with ethics, of the science of manual therapy.

We have reached the tenth year of uninterrupted publication, offering a scientific, ethical, and quality reading. The journal underwent some transformations based on the "Journal Selection Criteria" for the LILACS database of the Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences - BIREME/PAHO/WHO, which were indexed in 2007. The Vancouver style and the Online Electronic Library / SCIELO rules were also adopted, aiming for our indexing in this prestigious scientific database.

Our Scientific Council is composed of highly competent professionals, national and international references in their respective fields. All of them are university professors with doctoral degrees who are part of the postgraduate program at the master's and doctoral levels, all recognized by CAPES/MEC. In its composition, we seek to encompass the diverse regions of our country, thereby stimulating scientific production in the southern, southeastern, northern, northeastern, and central-western regions, that is, throughout the national territory.

Another fact of great importance for our journal was its affiliation with the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (ABEC). ABEC is a national civil society, non-profit and of indefinite duration, that brings together individuals and legal entities interested in developing and improving the publication of technical and scientific journals, enhancing the communication and dissemination of information. This relationship helps us a lot, putting us in contact with like-minded companies and institutions both domestically and internationally, ensuring standardized form and content of technical and scientific literature.

The acceptance of our indexing in "Latindex - Regional System in Line of Information for Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal" in 2007 scientifically demonstrated that we are growing, presenting the international scientific community with a product of quality and reliability. Surely we are researching other databases to collaborate in the dissemination of the science that is produced and practiced in our specific area of expertise.

In 2009, we achieved indexing in LILACS, CINAHL, and Sport Discus. Continuing its history, the journal was accepted in December 2011 by the international EBSCO database, further increasing its international visibility. Currently, our journal is in the WEB Qualis B2 stratum area 21 of CAPES/MEC (Physical Education, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, and Occupational Therapy).

Starting in January 2012, the journal "Revista Terapia Manual" (ISSN 1677-5937 and 2236-5435 ISSNe) began using the SEER - Electronic Journal Publishing System (http://www.revistatm.com.br/), being published only online, adopting the Open Access policy, meaning it becomes freely accessible. The international article identification system CrossRef DOI - Digital Object Identifier is also being adopted.

It is worth noting that since January 2012, the journal has had the subtitle "posturology" due to the increased emphasis on publishing articles in this area and the international scientific partnership with the Association Internationale Posturologie-API.

Starting in 2014, the journal adopts the main title "Manual Therapy & Rehabilitation Posturology" and will publish only in English. With the aim of further professionalizing, the journal will be edited by the editorial hub, providing a new hosting to better serve our authors and readers. With this new title, the magazine expands its scope, best serving the authors in their respective fields.

REVIEWERS

This reviewer guide contains information on basic considerations that should be applied when reviewing a manuscript submitted to the Manual Therapy, Posturology & Rehabilitation Journal and the journal's editorial standards. Other relevant information about the journal's objectives and scope can be found in 'About this journal'.

Submitted manuscripts are generally reviewed by two or more specialists. Reviewers will be asked to recommend whether a manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected. They should also alert the editors to any issues related to author misconduct, such as plagiarism and unethical behavior. Manual Therapy, Posturology & Rehabilitation Journal operates using a double-blind peer review system.

The publication of research articles by the Manual Therapy, Posturology & Rehabilitation Journal mainly depends on their validity and coherence, as judged by reviewers and editors. Reviewers may also be asked whether the writing is comprehensible and how interesting they find the article. Submitted manuscripts will be sent to reviewers unless they are outside the scope or below the interest threshold of the Manual Therapy, Posturology & Rehabilitation Journal, or if the presentation or written language is of unacceptably low standard.

Reviewers are asked to provide detailed and constructive comments that will help the editors make a decision about publication and the author(s) improve their manuscript. A key question is whether the work has serious flaws that should prevent its publication, or if there are additional experiments or data needed to support the conclusions drawn. Whenever possible, reviewers should provide references to support their comments.

Reviewers are requested to keep in mind the editorial rules of the Manual Therapy, Posturology & Rehabilitation Journal and alert the editors if the authors have not fully adhered to them.
